About Sun Acres Farm

Sun Acres Farm is located in the Dinokeng Big 5 Game Reserve and was established in 2007 as a weekend getaway location for its original owners Jeske and Hendrik-Jan.  World famous soccer player Gerald Vanenburg was introduced to the farm during a trip to South Africa, where his passion and love for African wildlife came to life.

By caring for over 10 species of wild South African animals including but not limited to; the Hartswater Springbok, Nyala, Sable, and Saddleback Impala, proud owners Gerald, Jeske, and Hendrik-Jan have safely contributed toward the conservation of precious wildlife in the hidden gem of Dinokeng.  Their hard work and dedication in protecting and caring for the farms surrounding wildlife has resulted in steady population increase of many of these species throughout the years.  Because the 600 ha farm is positioned alongside the natural movement patterns of many of these beautiful creatures, guests can view them right in the comfort of the Sun Acres farm grounds.

Being right in the heart of the Dinokeng Game Reserve, the magnificent surrounding wildlife could not be ignored by the Sun Acres family.  An intimate lodging village boasting authentic South African style and hospitality was created right on the farm for our guests to enjoy the incredible wildlife and serenity in a intimate African bush setting.  Our owners provide our safari goers with the most unforgettable authentic experience in South Africa, giving close attention to every detail and letting you leave as family.

Conservation Efforts

Hundreds of years ago when European settlers brought diseased cattle to the Dinokeng Area, species such as the Hart Water Springbok were gravely impacted.  These beautiful creatures were made virtually extinct to the area. Sun Acres farm owners have been building the species immunity via immunotherapy the last 5 years, assisting Springbok in their ability to produce healthy offspring and steadily multiply.

Throughout the year we care for wild animals such as Hart water springbuck, Sable Antelope, Nyala and Saddleback Impala, Wildebeest, Golden Wildebeest, Impala, black Impala, Bushbuck, Kudu, Ostrich, Duiker, Steenbuck, and Blesbuck.  Animals are provided with supplement feeding, disease control, and predator protection to increase their survival rates before they are released back into the wild.

Our main focus is to apply sustainable utilization of natural vegetation, low cost camp rotation systems that are economic and practical for not only us, but for an easy transition from our game farms to the animals next destination.  We actively support small game farmers around the Pretoria, Dinokeng area, and give them a platform to present their wildlife in a professional manner with integrity and uniqueness.

Sun Acres strives to let our farm animals roam in their natural habitat.  All of our wildlife is cared for by an experienced team of animal lovers in their own way and are in an excellent health.  It’s our responsibility ensure each animal, young, old, or sick is looked after which forms our commitment to conservation.
